The Story Behind Old Lady Gains

Let me take a moment to share the reason I started Old Lady Gains, a brand for strong, unstoppable women over 35 who refuse to let age define them.

In the fall of 2017, my workout bestie Jaime and I signed up for a partner CrossFit competition in the Masters Female Division. Naturally, we needed matching tank tops, because if you're going to sweat your butt off, you might as well look good doing it. The problem? There were zero options for female athletes like us—women over 35 who are serious about fitness and strength training. While men’s designs were everywhere, the market ignored us entirely.

So, Jaime and I decided to take matters into our own hands. With my less-than-stellar Photoshop skills and Jaime's vision, we created our first custom design. Two tank tops, made at Custom Ink for way too much money, and we thought that was the end of it. Then, we posted them on social media—and the response was wild. Other strong, badass women started asking where they could get one. Surprised, I ordered 20 more, thinking that would be plenty. They sold out in two weeks. So, I ordered another 20. Gone again.

That’s when I realized something powerful: Women over 35 are out here crushing it, breaking stereotypes, and rewriting the narrative on aging—but no one was talking to us. We didn’t just need workout gear. We needed apparel that spoke to our strength, confidence, and refusal to fade into the background. So, Old Lady Gains was born.
