Fits my body strangely

I love this brand and I love the designs. I own a few muscle tanks, unisex tees, and halter tanks. I started with XLs and they were super big on my chest (my normal shirt size is XL) and way too long. I now order L, and it still fits weird. The chest is too big and it's slightly tight at my hips, and then the length seems WAY too long...much longer than all my other tees. I'm afraid to try the ladies tees, because usually they are too tight or short. And the designs I want aren't always avail in the ladies tee. The halter tanks are prob my favorite, but I know if I order a M, it will likely still be weird and loose in the chest, too tight at the waist, and way too long down my legs (seriously, these are like dresses and it's not necessary or flattering). For reference, I'm 5'4" and bra size 36-38B. A size L should not be too loose on my chest and too long/tight on my body.
